• Any 1955 or newer American made car. No station wagons, convertibles, front wheel drive or foreign made vehicles allowed. No Camaros, Firebirds or Mustangs. Unibodies must be tied from front frame to rear frame.
• Minimum wheelbase is 107 inches — Both Sides- No Tolerance. Stock cross member only.
• A 4 post roll cage, 1-3/4 X .095 wall, cross and back braced within driver’s compartment is mandatory. NO bars allowed in engine compartment except for radiator protection bar and cannot be braced any further than the front of A-frame. Minimum of three (3) driver side door bars is required. Driver’s door may be gutted to make room for door bars. Rear hoop must be ahead of side window post if not the car will not be allowed to race. No offset cages. Rear kickers off the main cage may extend into the trunk area. Fuel cell protection bars are required.
• All doors musts be welded or bolted shut. Steel door plated, 18 gauge or .049-inch minimum thickness metal, must be securely welded to outside of door bars on driver’s side. Plate must cover the area from the top door bar to the rocker panel and from the rear down post, to six inches in front of the seat. Must be visible for inspection.
• All glass, chrome, trim, upholstery and plastic must be removed from vehicle. Inner steel panels must be retained, only the front inner fender panels can be removed. Wire screen only ahead of the nose bars. No skirting, spoilers, or hood scoops allowed.
• Rear seat must be removed and a metal firewall between driver and trunk installed. No Holes.
• Complete bumper to bumper body must be retained (excluding nose pieces). Bumpers must be stock appearing and cannot be reinforced. Bumpers must be capped on each end to the body.
• The unaltered stock floor pan, firewall trunk and trunk floor must be retained.
• Cars must be strictly stock. No cutting, channeling, or shortening. Steering wheel can be quick release. Seat can be moved to fit the driver, but the steering cannot. Hood must be kept in place at all times. No holes in hood or trunk lid. Hood and trunk lid must be pinned. No chains or bolts allowed. No gutting of hood or trunk lids.
SUSPENSION & FRAME---
•No modifying of suspension allowed. This Means NONE! Suspension parts must be stock for that make and model of car.
•Front & Rear bumpers must have two each 1/8-inch cables connected to main frame to keep bumpers from hitting the ground.
•Shocks — Absolutely no aftermarket racing shocks except for on the front (we encourage the use of good aftermarket racing shocks on both front corners). Bilsteins are considered racing shocks.
Shock mounts must be in stock locations, equal on both sides of the rear end. Shocks will be removed for inspection. Springs must be stock and in the stock location. Rear springs must have pigtails.
TIRE & WHEELS---
•Tires must be stock OEM passenger car tires. Tires may have 8” of rubber on the ground with 20 psi. No truck, mud, snow or racing tires. Only 7” wide steel wheels allowed. Stock offset wheels only. NO offset wheels allowed! Right front wheel must be reinforced to prevent loss during racing. White spoke and steel racing allowed. No Mag or aluminum wheels. All tires must be under wheel wells. 1” lug nuts mandatory.
ENGINE---
•Engine must be strictly stock with hydraulic camshaft only. No stroking allowed.
Engine can be maximum of 360 cubic inches and no more than 9:1 compression. Engine may pump a maximum of 160# of compression per cylinder, and pull a minimum of 15 inches of vacuum at 1000 & 2000 RPM.
•Stock appearing 2bbl carbs only, with a maximum top measurement of 1.380” and a maximum bottom measurement of 1.688”. No visual modifications. Carburetor must bolt directly to intake. 2 bbl. intakes only. No spacers or adapters allowed. May remove choke butterfly and shaft only. No air-flow devices.
•No Y pipes. Only dual exhaust allowed. Air cleaner must be on the vehicle at all times.
•Stock ignition only, no aftermarket modules.
•Steel or aluminum V-belt pulleys only.
STRICT ADHERANCE OF THE ENGINE RULES WILL APPLY, ZERO TOLERANCE.
A driver wishing to protest any engine tech issue of another car may post $100, and the car being protested must make visible the area in question. In the event that the car in question is legal, its driver keeps the money. If it is found illegal, that car and driver will be disqualified for that event.
TRANSMISSION & REAR END---
• Automatic: Only stock OEM automatic transmissions with a functioning torque converter. NO powerglides.
• Manual: Must be unaltered OEM three or four speed, with minimum 10.5 inch steel/organic single disc-type clutch and steel pressure plate assembly inside an explosion-proof steel bellhousing - minimum 270 degrees around top of clutch and flywheel area. No lightweight bellhousings. No hydraulic clutch release bearing. Steel unaltered flywheel only - 16 pound minimum.
• Chevy or Ford 9” rearend legal. Rear end may be locked (welded spider gears OK).
• Drive shaft loop or chain required within 8” of front of drive shaft. Drive shaft must be painted white.
FUEL & FUEL TANK---
No electric fuel pumps. Race gas allowed. Stock fuel tank must be removed. Fuel cells must be mounted inside trunk area with minimum of three (3) 1/8” steel straps. Also, 3/8” hardened bolts with washers or plates on bottom side of trunk floor required. There must be bars across the top of the fuel cell from the driver side fender to the passenger side fender and can be bolted. Square tube frame on all 4 sides of the fuel cell recommended. No cool cans on the fuel lines allowed.
BRAKES---
All brake components must be stock for make and model of car and in good operating order. No after market or racing components allowed. No shut off or adjusting devices. All 4 brakes must work and will be tested.
RADIATOR---
Only one radiator in stock position ahead of engine. No dual radiators. No transmission coolers in drivers’ compartment. Overflow hoses must point to ground. Aluminum racing radiators will be allowed. Fan shroud mandatory. All radiator screens must be behind the bumper line. No push bars allowed in front of the radiator.
SAFETY---
Aluminum racing seat is mandatory, must use grade 5 bolts in seat and harness. Minimum three inch (two-inch with head restraint system) wide SFI-approved five point safety belt assembly required (Y-type shoulder harness not allowed), must be mounted securely to roll cage. Shoulder harness must be mounted to cage, no higher than 2” above shoulder height. SFI-approved full fire suit required. Fire retardant gloves, shoes and neck brace (or head and neck restraint) required arm restraints or window net (no string nets allowed) are also required. All drivers must wear a Snell-rated SA2000, SA2005 or SFI 31.1/2005 helmet required. Driver must have helmet shield or goggles for eye protection. A minimum of 3 bars, at least .250 diameter (solid, no hollow tubing allowed) are required on driver’s side of the windshield opening. All bars within the driver’s reach must be padded including a complete circle of padding on the halo. ON/OFF switch must be clearly marked & operating.
APPEARANCE---
All cars must have bright paintjobs and contrasting numbers. No dull or primed paintjobs allowed. A professional looking job can be accomplished with a gallon of paint and a brush. Dark or different colors on each side are not recommended. If car gets dented an attempt to fix it must be made. If it looks like junk leave it at home until it is fixed. Appearance will be an issue because of safety. Car numbers must be a minimum of 24” tall and 3” wide and must be located on both sides of the car as well as the roof. If the scorer can’t read your number, you won’t be scored. You must register your car number before you can race.
MISCELLANEOUS---
Batteries must be a marine type-case securely mounted in a metal frame in the trunk area. Stock battery operated ignitions only. Any loss of wheel or tire, or leaking fuel/oil/water requires your immediate exit from the racing surface. No extra weight or ballast allowed.
